Los neumáticos de verano pueden usarse durante todo el año, en ciertas zonas geográficas y con clima poco lluvioso. Cuando son precisos los neumáticos de invierno, se instalan entre noviembre y marzo. También hay en el mercado cubiertas para los doce meses del año. Por último, los neumáticos anti-pinchazos son obligatorios en algunos vehículos sin rueda de repuesto. Son los Run Plat de Pirelli, RFT de Bridgestone o Pax de Michelín.
Existen investigaciones, realizadas para comparar los neumáticos baratos de importación asiática y los neumáticos europeos. Los resultados de esos trabajos, publicados en una revista británica, fueron incontestables: de las cubiertas asiáticas se derivaban mayores distancias de frenado, más de cinco metros respecto de los neumáticos europeos. Además, las prestaciones eran un 10% inferiores en los primeros.
Son muchas las tiendas de neumáticos que se apuntan al carro de las nuevas tecnologías y ofrecen sus productos en la Red. En la venta de neumáticos online también es posible adquirir las mejores marcas del mercado. Este tipo de negocios en Internet permiten al consumidor elegir el ancho, el diámetro, la marca, la estación del año etc, a la hora de elegir los neumáticos para las ruedas del coche.
